I’m quite used to meat proxies now. I try my best to avoid them, and when I can’t, I just skim through whatever their LLM has generated for them. But what happens when management asks you to become a meat proxy?
My last three interactions with my manager have included one of the following:
I suggest you ask Claude…
Ask Claude to give you 10…
Claude told me that…
All right, sure. Meat proxy.
Yesterday, however, after I shared my review of and thoughts on some processes, he said:
I see. Put the meeting transcript into Claude and see what it thinks.
The processes were extremely simple. Chatbots are designed to be helpful, so spending enough time prompting one would eventually produce the same conclusions I had already reached.
I can kind of tolerate being asked to act as a meat proxy. I’ll just disregard the request and do my own thing, but never directly after giving my own professional judgment.
What did I do, and what will I continue doing? I ignored the request, and I will keep doing so whenever I know the LLM will not produce anything better than what I produced.
Fuck that.
